| Simon P. Côté was born in Anaheim, California. From a very young age Simon began drawing steadily. It was a passion that carried him to study Drawing and Painting at Long Beach State University where he graduated with an honorary art degree. During his junior year he had the wonderful opportunity to study in the south of France in the petite city of Aix-en-Provence. At L’Ecole Marchutz his education focused on two of the great masters, Cézanne and Van Gogh, who often painted the awe-inspiring landscapes in the region. Literally standing in the same perspectives the artists had painted from, where invaluable lessons that Simon has carried into his own individual expression. Upon returning from France he completed his education and began selling works through galleries in Florida and La Jolla, California. Simon has had numerous exhibitions, including the Art Expo in New York (1997) and Los Angeles, California (1993 and 1995) and has his work in private collections around the country. As a true artist, Simon has also carried his form of self expression outside the world of fine art. While painting steadily, Simon intermittently swapped a paintbrush for a pen and has written a novel, two screenplays, a novella, and several short stories. Simon’s diversity of palette, style, and subject matter are remarkable for any sole artist and the future will be a testament to his passion and rare talent. Simon's studio is located in Southern California. Simon's father is world-renowned sculptor Guyol. Visit his impressive collection at: www.guyol.com |
