The following paintings are known as the "Balboa Series". The inspiration for the images come from the silent movie era where
emotions and statements were expressed without sound or voice. A direct comparison to the paintings that hang mute on our walls,
but speak volumes to our hearts.
Balboa Studios was a pioneering film plant in Long Beach, California. For five years it was the most productive independent film
studio in the world, even before there was an establishment called Hollywood. In the "Balboa Series" Simon recreates images of
silent film stars acting out their roles on the silver screen.
